USPS Confirms: No Change in Stamp Prices for January 2026

Good news for businesses and everyday mailers, the U.S. Postal Service has announced that stamp prices will not increase in January 2026. That means the cost to mail a standard 1-ounce First-Class letter will stay the same through at least mid-year.

Postmaster General David Steiner shared that the decision reflects USPS’s continued effort to keep mail service affordable while still controlling costs through its long-term Delivering for America plan. This 10-year strategy focuses on improving efficiency, boosting reliability, and ensuring that the Postal Service can continue its mission of delivering mail and packages six days a week nationwide.

“We strive to balance the revenue needs of the Postal Service with affordable offerings that reflect market conditions,” Steiner said. “At this time, we’ve decided to forgo a price change for First-Class Mail and other Market Dominant services until mid-2026.”

For businesses that rely on the mail to connect with customers, this is a welcome pause in rising stamp prices. In fact, only a handful of countries worldwide offer lower prices for domestic letters than the U.S., making the USPS one of the most affordable postal services globally.
